Terms

The short version: Box helps you hold your own crypto safely. Your keys, and your decisions, stay yours.

Last updated 30 October 2026

Using Box

  • These terms apply when you use the Box app or this website. By using Box you agree to them.
  • You need to be an adult where you live, and allowed by the laws that apply to you to use crypto wallets.

You hold your keys

  • Box is a self-custody wallet. Your secret phrases and private keys are made and kept on your phone. Box never has them.
  • That means Box can’t recover a lost secret phrase, move or freeze your money, or undo a transaction. If you lose your phone, your secret phrase and your backups, your crypto can’t be recovered by anyone.
  • Keep your secret phrase written down somewhere safe, and never share it. Box will never ask you for it.

Backups

  • Passkey backup and the Google Drive copy are optional. Your secret phrase is locked on your phone before it’s saved, and only your passkey can open it. Box and Google only ever hold the locked copy.
  • A backup works only while you still have your passkey (and, for the Drive copy, your Google account). Box can’t open or recover it without them.
  • Backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your secret phrase as well.

Transactions

  • Transfers, swaps and signatures happen on public networks. Once confirmed, they’re final.
  • Box checks a transaction before you confirm it: it shows what will leave and arrive, and warns about look-alike addresses and reported scams. These checks help, but can’t catch everything. You decide whether to confirm.
  • Network fees go to the network, not to Box, and can change from moment to moment.

Swaps and Box’s fee

  • Swaps are made through Uniswap, directly on the network. Prices can move between the quote and the moment the swap lands.
  • On main networks, Box adds a 0.85% fee to each swap. It’s shown in the review before you confirm, and it’s taken in the same transaction. Sending and receiving have no Box fee.

Other services

  • Box shows information from, and connects you to, services it doesn’t run: public network nodes, block explorers, CoinGecko for prices, Uniswap, WalletConnect, Google, and the apps you choose to connect to. Their own terms apply, and Box isn’t responsible for them.
  • Tokens, collectibles and apps you see in Box aren’t endorsed by Box. Anyone can send you a token; Box hides likely spam, but not all of it.

Not advice, not a bank

  • Box doesn’t give financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Prices and values in the app are estimates.
  • Box isn’t a bank, an exchange or a custodian. Crypto is risky and its value can fall to zero.

Your part

  • Use Box lawfully. Don’t use it to break sanctions, launder money, or harm others.
  • Don’t attack, overload or misuse Box’s servers, or try to get at anyone else’s backups.
  • You’re responsible for any taxes on your crypto.

Box as it is

  • Box is provided as it is and as available. Features may change, pause or stop, and Box may update the app to keep it safe.
  • As far as the law allows, Box isn’t liable for losses from lost keys or backups, mistakes in transactions you confirm, network failures, or other services. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can’t be taken away.

Changes

  • If these terms change, the new version appears here with a new date. Using Box after that means you accept them.
  • How Box handles your information is on the Privacy page.
